Welcome to the Traditional Youth Marching Bands Association Website.
The 2009 TYMBA contest season is underway
with the first two contests now out of the way. At the South East of England contest the classes were won by Biggleswade, Talbot and Haverettes. Yesterday (Sun) saw the Halesowen contest held along side Dudley council's Armed Forces Day celebrations. In glorious sunshine, Grafton, Spen Valley, Rhyl and 17th Tonbridge all won their classes.
Next week see's the final contest before a summer break, organiser of the Rubery marching band contest Tony Jackson assures us that the good weather has been booked.
Be aware though, this week looks like there will be a heatwave across the UK, so make sure you're well prepared for that on Sunday.

LATEST NEWS
This years solos competition looks like it's going to be a huge success. Last year, 25 young drummers and buglers entered the contest but this year with moving the event to it's own day and opening the competition up to every musician in the association, over 100 young people have entered.
Organiser Andy Downton said: "I had hoped that we'd see more people taking part, but this has exceeded expectations! One band have entered 27 people which is amazing!
"I can't wait for the competition."
The solos will be held on the 20th of September, giving participants 3 months to learn the music which will be provided in a book which will be sent out later this week.

Welcome to TYMBA!
The Traditional Youth Marching Bands Association was set up to cater for bands who did not gain from being members of other organisations which support the more ‘showband’ style of marching bands.
The association aims to offer different training and development opportunities for its members and also has a competition league system which most of the membership participate.
There are four leagues; Novice, Contest, Championship and National class, which bands are categorised into depending on their ability.
There are several contests throughout the year which contribute to the league which all culminate in the National Championships which is always the jewel in TYMBAs crown and is always a great day for competition.
