The second ever Musician of the year competition will also take place at the contest!  All entrants have been email, either directly or through their bandmaster, with the information for the day.  If you think you should be playing their but haven’t received an email, please email andy.downton@gmail.com

This autumn brings Leek competition back to the calendar after a four year absence, it also sees Rubery taking a new date making the usually quiet time after the summer break very busy!

The Manchester Contest also carries on in October spanning two days as it has done for the last few years with a concert, parade and arena competition.

It seems a long time ago now but the Solo Musician Competition went very well back in March (even if I do say so myself) and I’ll be getting in touch with the six TYMBA Class winners to sort out playing for Musician of the Year 2010 at The Nationals.

The Nationals is pencilled in for Sunday 21 November at the Chase Leisure Centre, Cannock. Confirmation coming soon!

Outside of contesting and the committee have been trialling a new way of having meetings. With the price of fuel and also other time commitments we’ve held our last two meetings in ‘cyber space’.

Using Skype the whole committee have been able to ‘attend’ the meetings from the comfort of our own homes at zero expense to the association. We’re also looking at ways that a similar system could be used for an AGM, but this is in the VERY early stages.

Also well done to the TYMBA bands who took part in the “2,012 Together – Olympic Open Weekend” with the BFYMBO, more than 2012 young musicians took part with a number of our bands taking part, one TYMBA band even made it on to regional commercial radio!

The way the site is now means that it should be easy for anyone on the committee to update pages that relate to them without the need to send it to me first.

There are still some “styles” that need working on, mainly the footer, at the moment it’s a little plain.

I hope you like it, if you have any problems please let me know (not about the forums, they are on the “to-do” list and will be sorted out very soon!)
