South East of England Band Contest

Postby davegilby » Sun Jan 17, 2010 1:06 pm

Morning All
Just a reminder that the South East of England Contest will take place on Sunday 20th June 2010 at Sanders Draper School, Hornchurch and will run the current 4 class system. I gave some bandmasters who I managed to see at the National Finals an entry form but could not get round to seeing you all for which I apologise. If your band would like to enter the contest and you do not have an entry form just contact me and I will send you one out via E mail. I will be taking some to the AGM next week so you could ask me there. This is the 21st year we have been running the contest and we would like your full support to enable us to provide you, the bands, with an enjoyable day and good competition. We are running the Drill Contest again this year and would like to see a few more entries. The closing date for entries is 31st March.
We wish you luck in everything you do for the coming year

Good afternoon all
just to say thank you to those bands who have returned their entry forms for this years contest and to remind those who are still considering entering that the closing date for entries is next Wednesday 31st March. Entries received afyter this will be be first on in their respective classes. To date we have five confirmed entries and would like another five if possible.
Sorry to go on but we have to book the judges and the school before the end of April and would like to know we have a reasonable number of entries
Thanks once again to those regular supporters who have supported us through the years we have been running. New bands are always welcome.
This is the 21st year we have been running and we would like to continue for the foreseeable future
Than ks

Afternoon all
Just a quick note to say that due to the Easter Break the committee have decided to extend the closing date for the contest until the 24th April after this date we will accept entries but any bands doing so will have to go first in their class. At present we have Six confirmed entries and would like to see (if possible) at least Ten with Two or even Three per class. We need a couple of bands in the contest and championship classes and after checking the entry forms at hand I notice we do not have any entries for the Drill Contest, come on its a bit of fun and doesn't take much to do. Hope to hear from you soon

Morning All
Just another reminder that we are still looking for a couple more bands in the Contest Class, as at present we only have one and we would like to get them some competition to play against. We will be making the draw for the runnning order on Friday 7th May so you still have a couple of days to ponder but please don't ponder too long. Look forward to getting a few more bands

Morning everyone
Just a quick reminder to all bandmasters not to forget to bring your TYMBA memory sticks so that we can put the judges comments on them for you, As you may remember we started to use MP3 recorders last year and then put the judges comments on to your bands own memory stick.
Martin the first band starts its performance at 12.30pm
Looking forward to a good day don't forget your sun cream and chairs and gazebos if you have them.
See you all sunday

On behalf of the committee I would like to thank those bands and supporters for making this years contest such an enjoyable one. I did order the weather for this year but obviously hadn't got enough bonus points. Never mind at least it didn't rain.
Seriously though the standard of the bands today was excellent there were NO Losers everyone was a winner, you did the youth of today proud Well done.
One matter which was brought to my attention was the slight error in the final results for the championship class, there were two bands with equal points in second place and the rules are open to different interpretations. We had TWO runners up so nobody came last in the championship class.
Enough of this back top the real reason for my writing Thank you for making our day so easy and enjoyable and we look forward to seeing you all again next year Sunday 19th June 2011 which happens to be the 21st Running of the contest.
Good luck to all bands in future contests this year and see you at the nationals

Hi All
Just wanted to say another great day at the contest, I was very impressed with the high standards of bands, 17th Tonbridge were my favorite band, but in all everyone was good to watch
It's a shame there are no novice bands taking part as they are TYMBA's future, maybe something can be done to encourage bands to take part.
Well done to Dave and his team.
See you all next year and maybe if my band gets going again will enter.

There is no novice class anymore, they condensed nocue and contest classes together.

I would like to say well done to all the bands, and also to the contest organisers, it was a brilliant day, made even better by us winning.

Good morning all
have just had the video man on the phone and he has run into a bit of trouble with one of the tapes and is therefore running a little behind schedule. We will endeavour to get them to you as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience.
